This feels like starting again. At the end of last summer I was almost under 14 stone, now I’m almost over 16. Bugger. Oh well. I must learn from my man The Penguin and just start waddling again. Just went for 20 minutes but at least it’s a start. Big cycle ride tomorrow.

Been a while since I’ve run. Travel was a little to blame. And I made the mistake of getting on a set of scales. Which depressed me since I’ve put on a stone since I decided to try and lose a stone. So this was a short run by way of proving to myself that I’ve not given up running. And that’s about it.

The coldest run I’ve ever done. Ice crystals were forming in my ears. Nice though. Along the bay near Sag Harbour on Long Island. Lots of big expensive houses that will now need to consider extra insurance because a big fat British man has bounced along their road and undermined their foundations.

I have to apologise to the guy who looked like he wanted to ask me for directions but who I sort of ignored and lumbered past. I think it’s fair enough though. I look very much like a fat man who’s doing everything he can not to stop running. Surely there’s someone else you can ask directions of?

Blimey. Not been for a week. Glad I went. Start of a new regime. Hopefully. I guess it will remain to be seen.

Not a good run in and of itself. Obviously. But I’m quite pleased I went. I didn’t go all week because it was so cold in New York (which is where I was) and then I almost didn’t run in California (which is where I am now) despite it not being that cold. But if I hadn’t have gone then I’d have brought my running shoes all the way with me and not used them, which would have made me less likely to bring them next time. So, as I say, I’m glad I went.
